Given the nature of perfume, from the confidence it gives its wearer to the indescribable effect it sometimes has on its very targeted audience, it’s not surprising that perfume has long been kept in bottles whose shapes seem to echo the mysterious properties of the fluids inside. Art Nouveau style handmade bottles with molds and decorations from Victorian era to the Roaring 20’s & 30’s era, are now here.
These molds were discovered at a company that made very high end perfume bottles from the late 1800’s through the early 1930’s, in Czechoslovakia, then it went out of business. They could be found in fancy shops for the elite clientele, and were very popular by the ladies of that time period. All are made 1 at a time, each one completed with crystals and glass stones, that look like gems that every lady wanted to own.
These original molds have been used again, using hand chosen crystal soda potassium glass, once used to make the bottles, melted in huge glass kilns over 100 years old, and then poured into the antique perfume bottle molds also over 100 years old, to give you the perfect look of the elegant antique bottles, they are from the same mold, the trimmings are hand gathered copper, brass & zinc sawdust shavings used in that period, melted down again, placed into antique trimming molds, and carefully placed on the elegant bottles. The tops of the bottles come with one of 2 closures, a hand formed screw top, with silver or gold trim, inside the stopper is a solid glass dipping rod, designed over a hundred years ago to apply the precious oil or perfume inside. Some have a atomizer, to put the fragrance on the skin or clothing.
Each bottle is unique, made by 1 family, to the old standards of yesteryear, each one individually designed and made by artist, No 2 bottles are exactly alike Being handmade they may have design differences, they are not considered flaws, but the design of the maker. These lovely bottles are a joy to own, and often become a collectable treasure.
